The ones that got away - April 2024
Thankfully there wasn’t one of these in March, but the hot streak of one month had to end with some games that didn’t quite make the mark this time.
The first was the original Silent Hill, but I must stress this is only temporary. I was enjoying my experience with the game, but I only got to the school - which is only like the second major stage. It took me far longer than it should have to, as I was playing this as a secondary game after something else. When I go back to it, it’ll be my sole focus.
Rather annoyingly, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered ended up a bust as it was my May 4th Star Wars article. I started the game and got two hours into it. Returning to the begining of one particular mission at the end proved annoying so I used a cheat to skip to the next level. I was of the understanding that cheats didn’t disable trophies. They do. It took far less time to get back to this point. I went a bit further and got stuck on an apparently infamous level - Imperial Detention centre. I just couldn’t be bothered .
Finally was Tales of Kenzera: Zau, a game I wasn’t necessarily hyped for but was interested in playing. I was sold by the director’s story, making a game in memory of his late father. The idea permeates through the interesting African setting of the game, but the combat just wasn’t doing anything for me. You can make it exciting, but if the player is responsible for making the combat fun, then something has gone wrong.
I still played a good bit this Month, detailed in upcoming Reviews and Side Quest articles. it’s not all bad!
